Profile Summary

I have a PhD in chemistry with experience in biology and biomedicine from my postdoctoral research. I began my career in inorganic chemistry for my BS and MS degrees, synthesizing and characterizing metal-oxo clusters called polyoxometalates. Adopting a different direction for my PhD, I designed and engineered metalloproteins to elucidate the metal's role in metalloprotein function. My postdoctoral work progressed into a more biological arena, for which I synthesized and tested drug candidates for Alzheimer's disease (AD). Finally, during my latest position, I conducted research in cancer biology, studying genetic and epigenetic subtypes of glioma. I continue to publish regularly and stay up-to-date with the literature. Since launching full time into writing, I have broadened my experience in neurology, including diabetic neuropathy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. My experience and interests are broad so I am extremely versatile and I can work with confidence on a spectrum of projects. I now write and consult full time, preparing and editing grants and manuscripts and various science material.
