Profile Summary

Statistician with over ten years of experience in data analysis, algorithm development and mathematical modelling. I hold a PhD in Bioinformatics from Imperial College London, an MSc in Applied Statistics from the University of Oxford (graduated with Distinction, received the Aon Prize for Applied Statistics) and a BSc in Mathematics with Theoretical Physics from University College London. I am well-versed in a broad range of maths-intensive methods of data analysis and have over ten years of experience in the R programming language. Prior to setting out as an independent I worked for eight years as a researcher, including four years under a PhD scholarship awarded by the Wellcome Trust and three years under a research fellowship awarded by the British Medical Research Council. In addition I have worked as a software developer for one year, and have written the R package ‘ecipex’, which is available on the Comprehensive R Archive Network. Much of my research has focused on modelling the statistical distribution of data produced by scientific instruments from the first principles of instrument operations. I have presented my work on numerous occasions both at international conferences and in scientific papers, including in several single-author publications, one of which was selected as Editor’s Choice by the American Chemical Society. In addition I am a peer reviewer for the ACS journal “Analytical Chemistry” and for “Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry”.
