As part of our effort to bring some of these brilliant minds together, I had the chance to chat with Kolabtree’s top freelance consultants and subject matter experts on various aspects of working on Kolabtree, their transition to freelancing amidst the pandemic and how scientists are adapting to remote working.

Arianna Ferrini
A freelance medical writer on Kolabtree, Dr. Arianna Ferrini holds a PhD in Clinical Research Medicine from Imperial College London. Her focus areas of expertise are stem cell research, neurology and cardiovascular science. She takes up a wide range of projects on Kolabtree, ranging from medical manuscript writing to literature research.
She holds several prestigious publications and positions, such as Director of Communications for the Association of the Italian Scientists in the UK (AISUK) and Chair of the Student and Young Investigator Section of the European Chapter of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine Society (TERMIS).
Hugo Lisboa
A food science and chemical engineer, Dr. Hugo Lisboa holds a PHD in polysaccharides and extensive experience in food and materials engineering. Over the years, he’s worked in both academia and business, blending the best of both worlds to equip himself with a set of unique skills and experience.
As a freelance consultant on Kolabtree, he works on projects related to food formulation and development, such as increasing the shelf life of food ingredients and helping identify a way to perfect a recipe for vegan eggs.
Ahmed Elewa
Dr. Ahmed Elewa is a biologist and bioinformatician who completed his doctoral research with a Nobel laureate. His extensive work as a post-doc also included leading a project that sequenced one of the largest genomes to date. He has worked on interesting projects such as studying salamander tail regeneration, and holds several publications across diverse fields such as religion, philosophy and law to his name.
During the pandemic, he was also the driving force behind building his startup ‘Colorna’, providing a rapid over-the-counter test for the deadly coronavirus-19. He takes up a diverse range of projects as a freelance scientist on Kolabtree, executing scientific analyses, writing and editing.
